“Three billboards”
Personally speaking,it’s a marvelous and realistic movie.
There were no absolute bad guys or good guys.
Frances McDormand as an angry,grieving mother in the movie.She played as a heart-broken mother who had lost her own daughter.
One one hand,her daughter has been rapped and dead.On the other hand,she was resentful and didn’t care others at all.But when she realized how sick Willoughby was,she looked at him as if for the first time.She’s staggered and so are the audience.
Willoughby was a responsible police chief and a good man,that’s why people respected him.He was very sick,that’s why people sympathize with him.So when the mother spoke against him,people were dissatisfied.However,this solution did force the police to investigate harder.
The saddest moment of it is Willoughby suicided after a happy day with family in order to make the family’s last memory of Willoughby is happy instead of upset and desperate.
The open ending makes audiences a little bit annoyed.Audiences want to know what happened next,and this reflects the charisma and success of The Three Billboards.
